Somewhere along the way the TCG stopped putting every Pokémon in a battle and started putting them in a house. On the couch, under a blanket, up on the kitchen counter where they aren’t supposed to be. It’s the softest the card art has ever gotten and one of our favorite corners of the hobby.

This is our roundup of the cards set at home, sorted room by room as you fill your binder!

Bedroom Pokémon Cards

Nothing much happens in these cards, which is the appeal. A Pokémon is asleep, or nearly asleep, or has claimed a spot on the bed that it clearly considers permanently its own.

The lighting does a lot of the work here. Most of these are lit by a lamp or by whatever’s coming through the window, so the whole section sits in that warm low light register that makes you want to go to bed early.

We have more snoozy cards in our full sleeping Pokémon cards round-up!

Kitchen & Dining Room Pokémon Cards

The kitchen brings out a specific kind of mischief in Pokémon art. Someone is on the counter, someone is eyeing a bowl they were not offered, and the whole thing reads like a scene that ends badly for whoever’s cooking.

If the food itself is what you’re here for, we went deep on that in our food Pokémon cards roundup. A few of the Trainer cards further down are also set at the table, so check that section too!

Living Room Pokémon Cards

This is the biggest section by a wide margin, which tracks. The living room is where everybody ends up.

It’s also where the art gets most ambitious. The Ralts line is the standout, three cards that connect into one continuous scene and tell a whole life story across them, and they make an incredible centerpiece for a binder page. Elsewhere you’ve got couch naps, window seats, and a run of cards parked in front of a fire, which we covered in full in our fireplace Pokémon cards post.

Desk, Office & Study Pokémon Cards

Studying, tinkering, reading, or in a few cases, actively getting in the way of someone else trying to work. If you’ve ever had a cat sit on your keyboard, a couple of these will feel personal.

This corner of the TCG overlaps heavily with books and libraries, so if that’s your thing we put together a whole roundup of Pokémon book cards too!

Backyard, Garden & Balcony Pokémon Cards

Home life, al fresco. Whether that’s Persian posted up at a Juliet balcony, Squirtle in a kiddie pool, or something dozing in the flower beds, this is the part of the house with the sky or a window in it. The ones with Pokémon looking out at the world, like Charmander and Persian, are our favorites of the bunch.

Trainers at Home Pokémon Cards

The Trainer cards are where the domestic thing gets really specific, because now there’s a person in the frame with a whole life going on around them. Cooking, working, sleeping in, or even running out the door. Everyone here is off duty.

Entryways, Stairs & the Rest of the House Pokémon Cards

Every house has the parts nobody photographs. The hallway, the stairs, the spot by the door where the shoes pile up, the bathroom sink.

The Quaxly line is the one to know about here, three connecting cards that run the evolution through a single bathroom mirror scene. And the 151 Machoke is helping somebody move in with a cross section of the whole place laid out (and a Meowth cameo if you can spot it!)

Vintage & Rare Home Pokémon Cards

The cozy home card isn’t a new invention. It just used to be rarer and turned up in the corners of sets that were otherwise all business. This section runs from grails down to cards that cost less than a coffee, and the range is part of the fun.

Affordable & Common Home Pokémon Cards

You don’t need a chase card to build a cozy binder. Plenty of the best domestic art in the TCG landed on commons, which means you can put a whole page together without thinking too hard about it. Great place to start if this is a new lane for you!
